I think immediacy is a fair part of it, being able to do something then and there rather than having to wait for somebody else to be online (like always using the "Buy Now" option on auctions rather than waiting). Then there's the whole social quagmire of guild crafting; if you want someone to make something, is it fair to expect it for nothing, or for the cost of components, or the price the thing would sell for usually, or... Some people are fantastically generous, which is wonderful apart from the guilt it can inspire if you don't think you're providing much in return, others aren't so charitable (there was someone in a guild a while back famous for their "guild discount" that seemed to result in things costing double the market rate...)

And some of us are just grumpy unsocial gits!

I miss the interactions too, it's not the same when everyone just sends all the bits they pick up to their alts to be suitably processed. I kind of liked when we had guild crafters.

My husband has the same affliction as do many of our guild. Personally, I miss the interdependence and really like it. I prefer crafting when I have people to do it with and thought the concept of EQ2s crafting instances which you do as a group sounded pretty fab. I think I'm in the minority though!
