@Tarsus Good point, spiders being silent doesn't help. Although if one was big enough that I could hear it scuttling across the floor, I'd be out of the house so fast...

And good idea to have one of the dps as master looter, I think the main reason we left the loot is because I'm usually ML. Which isn't ideal.

I'm the designated spider-killer in my household. I still jump when I see one, but my next move is to reach for a shoe. I'm not sure what prompted Blizzard to pick the noise for the spider shriek they use. The creepiest thing about spiders (at least for me) is their silence.

That said, for Arachnophobia, there were some things about our guild that contributed to our getting it on the first attempt. Firstly, our players are pretty "aggressive" and so our tanks emphasize threat gear to maximize DPS (see #4 & #5). Secondly, we use one of our DPS officers as the Master Looter and settle loot on the way to the next boss(see #1).

Not coincidentally, I think we also did "Mama Said Knock You Out" that same run - it's definitely a fast kill (see #2).

Just in case anyone was reaching for some specific applications of the above advice.

I share your dislike for spiders -- even computer ones. There was a cave in Vanguard that had spiders that would lay eggs in your skin. You'd see your skin crawling and then all these tiny spiders would crawl out... First time I saw that I was squealing like a stuck pig and literally wiping my physical self off. Now, THAT'S immersion!
