@Melmoth (sorry for late reply, I was mulling over this one). People run Malygos a lot despite the use of vehicles.

In WoW, if the incentive is good enough, people will do it. I mean, I also very much hope that the vehicle side of Ulduar is fun. But the sad truth is that it may not matter as long as shiny desirable purples are involved.

@Pangoria I don’t think he does exist on normal mode. I know I don’t remember a named whirlwinding mob with two healers until we got to heroic. But if I end up back in the nexus I will make sure to check

@Tarsus True. But then again, hoping for a weapon drop once a week isn’t all that easy either. I don’t really see why we can never have rep or crafted tanking weapons, the only one I ever remember was on Quel’Danas and that was right at the end of TBC.

@Spinks – The weapon thing is surmountable if you can run 10 man Naxx. You can easily run that using the quest tanking weapon out of Gun’Drak.

About Nexus having an extra boss on heroic ….. the boss is there on regular too, just that NOBODY notices that he’s a boss. He’s just too easy on regular.

You’re right on with the comment that they “seem hard” to the general populace. All the “harder” instances are (universally) where there is a slightly less than obvious trick to accomplishing them. Taking Loken in Halls of Lightning, for example, is finally a boss that relies on DPS to know what to do and react, as well as the healer and tank. If all five people get it right, he’s trivial, and it actually becomes quite an enjoyable instance. If the DPS can’t get it right, it’s absolute hell on Azeroth.

Personally, I welcome such instances that reward entire groups for being genuinely “good”, if I may use such a word – and not the usual one in which the tank needs to be good, it helps if the healer is good, and the DPS just need to know which button to spam.

Or at least, I do once I know the trick!

Everyone hates the Oculus. [...] Oculus is an unusual instance because you have to use vehicles (flying drakes) to fight the last boss.

And the next big raid uses lots of vehicles too. Let’s hope that these two factors aren’t related, and that it is indeed down to a relative lack of enticing rewards that makes the Oculus so unpopular.
