I think you're right, well geared tanks don't need to run heroics. But also, people spot that no raid guild is looking for tanks so don't bother levelling them (if they wanted to raid).

And I often run heroics with my feral friend too :)

Will be curious to see if dual specs helps. And the great thing about more people trying Fury is ... more custom for blacksmiths :)

Regarding tank rarity the issue is not that tank is a low pop demographic it's more that tanks don't need to run the places people want them for and perceive a lack.

In a 25 man raid you are using 1-3 tanks on each boss so ideal set up is one full time tank and two that can dps reasonably well while tank specced (druids and dks).

If all 25 decide to do heroics after that raid you have one full-time tank, two tanks who are perfectly happy to dps.

In my guild sometimes all 3 of our usual tanks have gone to an instance together (because we're friends and we like playing together). While this makes for a fun heroic run with lots of Vent chatter it isn't optimal even for our guild and certainly doesn't help the general population wanting pug tanks.

I'm not at all sure dual spec will help. I suspect that for every random dpser who decides to tank there will be some guy who raids as Prot wanting to kick back and nuke things. Your excellent Fury guide will not help!
