Hiya Spinks,

A little comment I grabbed from RedPhoniex post on warhammer alliance, re: Wards

"As part of this implementation, the ward system is being overhauled into a sigil system. Wards will no longer be attached to actual armor but instead tied to achievements in the Tome of Knowledge, such as killing the boss that dropped that armor. Wards can then be combined into sigils which have the same effects wards do now. This allows players to mix and match set pieces, and retain wards/sigils even if they don't have the armor pieces."

Hopefully this will be in for land of the dead.

I've been playing Dawn of War 2, Raiding in WoW has started to get a little dry again for me.... wipe, wipe, wipe, wipe... boss kill, wipe etc gets a little dull! Jousting is fun I suppose and bite sized enough to dip in and out of.

Anyway I digress, DoW2 has given me a hankering to reactivate my WAR account! I doubt many RTS players will do this, but using the Warboss as a hero on my Orks has tempted me back into WAR and a Black Orc!

Your 'best things' list is spot on. The good ideas were there, even if the implementation of them wasn't always very great.

My reasons for leaving were a little more damning than yours:

- WAR PvE is beyond lacklustre.

- Balanced PvP was scarce, even in scenarios.

- The client was (and still is, judging by the latest videos) supremely unpolished, likely beyond repair.

- The server architecture is incapable of handling the horribly ill-conceived RvR end-game.

It seems laughable now that this game was once touted as a WoW contender, and I'm betting that the EA bigwigs will think thrice before funding another project with Mark Jacobs at the head.

In my mind, the game they should have made was DaoC II

Spooky, I was discussing WAR this morning with Zoso and had that exact same thought.

I'm expecting Champions Online to soak up a large amount of my subscription funds because it should be City of Heroes with a graphics upgrade and a lot of the original issues ironed out. A DAoC2 that did a similar sort of thing would surely have my subscription for several years as well.
