We met the faction champions for the first time last night in 10m. Although its a fun fight, its a terrible game design decision to put that encounter in.
It took us three hours, but we did it.

Onyxia's lore actually made me slightly bitter as a young hordie back in the day. There was actually so little in the way of epic horde centric storylines in Vanilla with a lot of the dungeons seeming to consist of, from the horde end 'And then we burst in, killed a bunch of guys and took their stuff' compared to things like Deadmines and then the alliance gets this big event where Lady Wozzerface is revealed to be Onyxia? I still feel a little gypped.

I think Rend Blackhand in UBRS was the first boss with phases that I ever fought. You start the event, kill the waves of mobs, then Rend comes out on his mount. You fight him until he's off his mount, then kill them separately.

Some people might argue that the big tauren in Deadmines has two phases (he warstomps and switches weapons).

I will agree though that Ony's phases were the most epic. I remember the sense of dread I'd feel when she would alight in phase 2.

The second is the biggest one for me: You know exactly why you are fighting her. The Horde and Alliance have slightly different reasons, but we use the same lore, so it's consistent.

Her cave is more interesting as well, with flames shooting up, lava flowing, and the ceiling looks ready to cave in on us... The Coliseum is a bit dull, with the spectators being more of a distraction out o the corner of your eye. Also I don't like the pacing of it very much. However I don't hate it, I did it finally and found it to be pretty fun, though I'm glad I don't have interest in farming it.

And she's a dragon!

In addition to that, she was incredible difficult (for the MC raids) but didn't block a whole tier because she was in her own instance.

Also, the event in the Stormwind keep was, in my opinion, the best WoW ever offered. Nothing was ever and will ever be able to be as atmospheric as this event. It was phasing before the stupid, bad done wrathgate event, in some way. You changed the keep for hours. There were dragons everywhere. Mighty NPC which never even bothered to talk to you, were finally protecting you. Endangering themselves to save your life.

And before I forget, the most important reason: She is a dragon! Not only that, but a flying dragon!
