Really surprised my the Premo was unable to kill Arthas in the same week as everyone else. I suppose at that level of progression raiding, only the hardmodes count, but the thing is....none of the original Premo raiders are attuned for hardmodes...because they didn't pass the exam for it. Really sucks for the countless players who put them up on a pedestal, those folks must be heartbroken.

Surprised? Yes I am. Does it really bother me? The care cup is empty. I don't really care what other guilds do to cheat or exploit.

I have a vague suspicion that people just haven't progressed as far in ICC as blizzard would have liked. Considering how much of a bitch the first limited attempt boss is (Professor Putricide is a confusing, busy hell that makes good and decent people cry), I'd put decent money that a lot of upper mid tier raiders have stalled out.

Ah yes. If Premonition gets a world first then its DIVASTROP time for sure.

Personally I would think that if they couldnt get an Arthas kill then unless this Mage is REALLY that good then they're unlikely to get any other world first :)

If I were a member of their raid (HA!) then I would feel cheated at missing seeing Arthas dead and skipping straight into hard modes. But then I've never seen a server first let alone a world first. I do understand the motivation of being 'am bestest' but buying in talent goes a bit far. 'tis flattering when you're the person being head hunted though.

The main reason why limited attempts on Normal Mode were removed is because it would have artificially blocked progression far beyond what Blizz's original intent was.

During ToC, if you burned up all your attempts on Heroic mode, you could still go take down regular mode. If limited attempts were kept on both heroic and regular mode, then guilds would be forced to curb their progression attempts earlier than they would otherwise, because they need to save an attempt or two in order to clear the rest of the instance.

The way things are going is the same way that it's been progressing all through ICC. Current content is controlled, while older content is allowed to slacken. Now that Heroic is cutting edge, normal mode is opened up.

I suspect that the main drama ensues if Premonition picks up any world firsts for the hard mode, especially if they beat the guild the mage originally came from.

I don't pretend to understand why these guys are so competitive though -- maybe there's more money in getting a world first than I realise. The only player I knew who was in a guild that had some sponsorship said that the sponsor paid for the website, TS server, and a few peripherals and mouse mats and that was all.

Also, I love football manager games as long as I can skip the games themselves, I also love tower defense ... so maybe a pattern in there :)

As we've previously discussed:-
Sim RaidLeader. "Can you coax your prima-dona Main Tanks into signing for raids, keep the healers awake/not playing bejewled and shout loud enough at the DPSers to get to the End Boss?" There's gotta be a game in there somewhere.

For all those folk that play football manager games but actualy skip the game and also raid....

As to the ethics of 'buying' a raid lock....well as I understand it raid locks can diverge so the only actual harm is loosing a raider. They wont loose their lock-out. Jumping ship on your raid group? Well these things happen. Oh the Drama, makes me chuckle when its not my guild!

I saw a pretty well geared tank advertising his services to help guilds through raids in /trade the other day. All done rather well in character on a RP server. More power to him. We are getting closer to EvE :)
