A couple of my kin mates from LOTRO (guilds are called kinships in that game) kindly came along to the kinship house to help demonstrate our tame pond tentacle. Well, maybe not all that tame. I do think that this is possibly the best raid drop ever.

Make your Google background awesome

Anyone checked out Google yet today? They’ve gone all bing on us, with eye-bleedingly bright backgrounds. But it is possible to swap in something altogether better, like the Guild Wars 2 Warrior wallpaper shown above. This is a screenshot of the google homepage, showing the ‘”change background image” option on the lower left of the [...]
How much do we really want a class to change between expansions?

So Blizzard have started to dribble out some more talent tree information for druids, rogues, priests and shamans. But I don’t really feel curious to know more about warriors. I’m fine if they don’t change much, because I like mine the way she plays right now. All I really want is for Blizzard to design [...]

I never set out to raid in LOTRO. I’m not even sure what I exactly set out to do with my shiny new lifetime subscription, aside from hang out and just enjoy the game world from time to time. But with much encouragement and help from Arb and friends, a few hints on how the [...]

Last week there was a minor spat between two classes amongst the WoW bloggers. A hunter dissed the mage bloggers on a podcast, and suddenly half the blogs in my reader went up in flames. But why do people care about their class so much? Surely by this stage, most people who are keen enough [...]

When was the last time you met a genuinely new player in a PUG? Are you sure? Old time WoW players (myself included) do tend to assume that the people we run into while levelling are alts. The majority probably are. But for all that, there are also plenty of players who are trying the [...]

Good news everyone, I didn’t have to make up any news this week! LOTRO, Darkfall: Free as in Beer (the first round is on the house) In case anyone had escaped the internet LOTRO blogging blitz, yes Turbine have announced that their AAA Lord of the Rings MMO will be offering a wider variety of [...]

I haven’t done a good links post for awhile. But not for the lack of material! Flaim at The Cognisance Council has some thoughts for tanks, from someone who doesn’t tank. Big Bear Butt Blogger has some more thoughts about the tank’s role in a group, from someone who does. I’ve often seen bloggers wish [...]

(kawanet@flickr) What is it with MMO payment plans and food metaphors? Subscription games are often described as all you can eat buffets, and now Turbine is describing their plans for LOTRO as offering an a la carte option (if you don’t eat out much, ‘a la carte’ just means you get to order what you [...]
