I noticed while touring Azeroth recently that the colour yellow doesn’t get much use in the palettes in Outland and Northrend. And desert zones don’t really translate at all – it just seems to be a climate that isn’t Outlandian, along with jungles. I wonder how many deserts will be left after the Cataclysm … [...]

Trick or Treat?

Over the past year, I’ve been running ‘sweet swaps’ for our LotRO kinship. It involves members of the kin giving me their real life details (name/address) and then me doing some shuffling to enable everyone to send and receive a goody bag. Think Secret Santa, but outside of Xmas. In fact, it did actually start last Christmas [...]

Probably the most cleverly plotted RPG ever made, and with one of the most engaging settings ever written. I don’t think we’ve yet seen its like again. Now available on GoG …

I don’t know about any of you but I’m just not as into raiding these days as I used to be. I still enjoy the social side because I like the people in my regular raids a lot, but I know that I used to … care more. When I first started raiding properly in [...]
The strange and misleading art of achievement-o-mancy
Posted in general mmo, tagged achievements, cataclysm, prediction, what are achievements used for on September 27, 2010 | 3 Comments »
It’s amazing how much you can tell from a list of achievements! Next weekend, Arb and I are off to the Eurogamer Expo so hopefully will be able to share a few hands on thoughts. And when I say hands on, I mean screens viewed dimly over the backs of a bunch of other gamers, most of whom are taller than we are. Looking forwards to meeting [...]

Anyone who was paying attention to the latest list of Cataclysm achievements will have noticed a couple for surviving waves of “Peacebloom v Ghouls.” And if, like me, you love Popcap games you were probably dancing around at that point, because it could only mean one thing: Plants v Zombies comes to Warcraft. And as [...]
