I was an old City of Heroes player, and it’s no surprise that the layoffs are happening. It seems like an unfortunately common occurrence in the games industry: hire lots of people to make a fantastic game, and once they’re done, lay them off. The game is pretty good, but there following just isn’t large enough to justify the number of employees that they had.

Oh, the facts? Pfft. Who needs those?

it’s only natural for them to burn out first and also if their original drive towards mmos was based on a socializing and having fun in shared space, then the exodus to social games is natural too.

I’m still trying to find out about those Paragon layoffs because they seem mighty odd.
