If you play 5 hours with it or 500, Blizzard still get their $60.

Personally I've finished it in normal mode. I'll probably spend some time with an alt and go through it again in nightmare. And that will be it, enough other games to play and I'm happy with what I got for my money.

I was a bit taken aback in Act 1 when he asked if my character would share some wine with him and she said she didn't drink with strange men. She's a barbarian warrior, I expect her to drink ANY MAN under the table! I'd like him a bit better if he was less of a total sleazebag but ... yeah :)

I thought the enchantress was quite good in Act 4, she's the only person who expresses genuine regret about the lost NPC and seems quite interested in the locale and people around her. The scoundrel just wonders if he has a chance with Auriel.

The scoundrel is clearly the companion to go with. I swapped to the enchantress for my second run through and her quips are not nearly up to the scoundrel's level. And I suspect the templar won't be as much fun either.

@Everblue Players are *still* playing D2. Time will tell if this will ring true for D3 or if it will kill off D2. I think part of what Blizz would like is to eventually shut down those free servers in favor offering paid services in D3.

I realize this has an 'always online' component - but comparing this to ... say swtor - is hardly a good comparison.

Diablo (in all three forms) has always been repetitive and grindy at higher levels. The point of this game isn't to be the only game you play for the next x years. This is a game you can play once a month and have as much fun as the guy who's putting 60 hours a week into - if anything it's closer to the model that I wish MMO's would move towards.

I have a hard time playing more than one MMO at a time with any real progress - and then I end up with a backlog of games that I wanted to play but didn't have time for.

There used to be a time when you'd get a game and play it for a month or two and then that was it.

The beauty of D3 (for me) is that I can pick this game up two months from now and burn out on it all over again. Or when I'm bored with MMO of the month I can go grind out a new toon in D3 - or my buddies and I go play for a weekend 3 years from now - the game will be there and just as fun when you pick it back up as it was the first time.

I don't really expect it to give me 40-60 hours a week for a year. I do expect it to give me 300-400+ hours over the course of a few years.

Different type of game - it's certainly not an MMO.
