After having run it a few times I can say that I do like it for what it is...a scenario. I am highly disappointed that we get no pre-expansion event however.

On one of my runs, it was my hunter, a dps warrior and a rogue. The warrior pulled almost everything on the initial pull (dock and ship on the left side). He and the rogue died. When my pet died I feigned death with around 500 health left. It wasn't pretty. Right after that I re-spec'd my pet for tanking. Things went MUCH smoother from then on out...even after the rogue decided to sit 'afk' the rest of the time..leaving myself, my pet and the warrior to finish the run. I was more than glad when it was over.

I look forward to experiencing more scenarios in Mists.

Given the amount of time their guards camped my corpse when I was a young noob trying to find Nat Pagle, they cannot blow up Theramore enough.

Though, in regards to the scenario, I was struck by how easy it was. Me in mostly LFR gear and a moonkin in pvp and DS dungeon gear tore through it when our third lost connection in the first minute and never came back. So I hope the level appropriate version is a bit harder or it will be sad.

One of the problems I had with SW:ToR was the endless repetition of quest dialog when doing dailies. I've seen it every day for two weeks - please stop. But that doesn't mean don't do any lore or background, just structure it so that we see it once and then drop into the repetition part. I'd have preferred a short series of quests that explained what was going on and why this was important. In fact, I'd suggest a short quest series as a gate for all of the scenarios.

The scenario itself is ok, it will be better when vote kicks are added in 5.1 but in a guild group it flows well. Definitely something that will appeal to those of us with limited time rather than the raid teams but that's an improvement. Variety keeps a community healthy.

I know I'm one of those who think it more marketing driven, dev comments aside.

It's far too easy as a dev and story builder to allow some items to be handled off screen, such as much of Thrall's story in Cata. The problem is, by putting those events in a novel as opposed to incorporating them in-game Blizz is in effect using an Online Store to sell content just like the F2P MMOs do. The only difference is that the F2P MMOs are completely up front about it, while Blizz never mentions that to be completely caught up in WoW you have to buy things outside of the game.

A lot of the complaints also seem to be centred around the fact that the story of Theramore's fall is in a novel. So the exclusion of it from the ingame event feels like a cynical marketing cash-grab rather than an attempt to streamline content, I think -- at least to a lot of people.

"It looks as though the developers heard all the complaints about the long preambles in lore heavy instances like Old Stratholme and decided to just skip it and let players get on with the random devastation. But I bet most people really quite liked the preamble the first time they saw it."

Great point. I liked the Wrath method of storytelling because, even if you hadn't played The Frozen Throne or read the Arthas novel, you could figure out what was going on. In that case, having the information you find out in the book gave you a sense of depth and history for Arthas' actions, but none of the major events of lore are missing from the game itself.

I like the Stratholme / ICC dungeon model of some dialogue that explains why we're there and what we're doing. As long as Blizzard gives us the option to skip those RP events if we want to, I really think that's the best way to go.
